This
is a breathtaking way to travel in Turkey. These come with drivers,
or you can drive yourself. You will make lifelong friends and have
adventures that we don't even know yet! The itinerary includes
historic sites, 20km beaches, mountains, plateaus, shopping, and
lakes, rivers, swimming, amazing food and Dalyan.
Day
1 - Istanbul
Arrive
in Istanbul. Meet and greet at the airport, transport to
the hotel.
Day
2 - Istanbul – Dalaman - Dalyan(B)

Morning
Tour of Topkapi Palace then to Grand Bazaar (Covered Bazaar)
and Sultan Ahmet. Walking tour of Sultan Ahmet area
including Hagia Sophia, Blue Mosque and Underground Cistern.
Flight to Dalaman. Transfer to Hotel.
Day
3 – Dalyan - Patara(B)

Introduction
to the team and briefing. Start from Dalyan and travel to
Kayakoy ghost town of 2000 deserted houses. Lunch is at the
ghost town, and then on to Santa Claus’ birthplace, Patara,
with its 20km long beach of white sand. Overnight in a hotel
in Patara, a small town with some superb Lycian ruins and
surrounded by fertile cornfields and tomato plantations.

4 – Xanthos - Saklikent(B)

Visit
Xanthos, the capital city of the Lycian empire and then on to
the magnificent Saklikent canyon. Trek up the canyon, with the
walls towering 300m up on either side. Drive up to the 2100m
plateau under Ak mountain with its 3016m peak. On this special
1 mile wide plateau, surrounded by lunar like mountain
scenery, meet the mountain people of the families who live
here in the summer. Set tents up near a cold spring on the
plateau, and then have a huge fire with lamb grill. Sleep on
plateau under the shooting stars (guaranteed).
Day
5- Uzumlu – Akkopru - Dalaman (B)

Early
morning trekking on the cool plateau, then set off for Tlos, a
very ancient city renowned for having so many rock tombs and
ruins from Byzantine, Lycian, Roman and Medieval times. Next
visit Uzumlu for tea and shopping, a special old town with
many very old houses precariously holding themselves up, visit
inside the old town mosque. Drive up to 1400m Karabayir
plateau and have lunch. Drive down to the doomed village of
Akkropru and camp by the large Dalaman river with a huge
bonfire.

6- Koycegiz(B)

Scenic
mountain road to one of the most special and secret places in
Turkey, Eagle lake. This lake is in an extinct volcano at
around 2100m high and is bordered by grassy banks. The view is
of the panoramic Golgeli mountain range surrounding you. Here
we stop and have a large picnic lunch. Then on to Agla village
with its view over 12km long Koycegiz lake and the surrounding
fertile plains, we spend the night in a tent by Agla lake. For
dinner there is special Turkish BBQ.

7- Dalyan (B)

Morning
drive to Agla village for some tea and then to Old Koycegiz
and look at the old Byzantine houses. Drive up the Yuvalakçay
river to the source, an icy cold spring surrounded by vertical
cliffs and covered by ancient hollow tress. Lunch at a
restaurant built new every year on top of the river. Drive
down to the coast to tiny Asi koy beach for swimming, then
drive up to a viewpoint 600m above Turtle beach and see the
delta winding below. Then back to Dalyan.

8- Boat Tour - Caunos(B)

In
the morning we go for a boat tour along the river in Dalyan.
See the rock tombs, Turtle beach and Caunos. After shopping
for souvenirs, have a Turkish hamam. Evening farewell party in
Dalyan.
Day
9- Dalyan - Dalaman(B)

Reluctantly,
we say good-bye and transfer back to the airport.
